How to market yourself

Your main goal as a real estate agent should be to create an optimal ‘Top of Mind Awareness’ or TOMA. But what is this TOMA? It means that you have to advertise your name for people to know that you are into real estate business. You don't want to be forgotten and lose a sale just because someone didn’t remember that you are a real estate agent. Social Media plays an important role in marketing and promoting your business in the era of the internet. Here are a few tips to effectively manage an online business profile:

Find your angle – What is you role? Do you have a unique strategy for marketing? Is there a particular group of people you deal with? Whatever it is that you do is unique to your way of marketing and helps your business, write it down!

Create a slogan – People remember slogans. Play with words and come up with something memorable. You can look in the yellow pages or check online for some ideas to start off with. Depending on your name, you can even find a way to use that in a slogan. Your slogan should tell your clients what they can benefit from your services.

Apply the slogan – Once you have settled on a slogan apply it everywhere on your website, business card, mailings, brochures, car sign, listing/buying presentations, etc. The more exposure it gets, more people will remember you. Resist the urge to change your slogan.

Network online – Use any of the social networking sites to let people know what they can expect when they work with you. Put up new listings and keep your website and blogs updated. This is a great way to attract customer’s attention. If your customers like your content and your services, you can be sure that they will tell others about it.

Blog – Having a blog is the most effective way to market your business in the current era of online real estate marketing. You can manage a professional blog online for free. It's simply a paragraph or two of journaling about yourself and/or your business. It gives you more exposure. You can even post this link to your website or your social networking site.

Personal Notes – Sending your clients thank you cards, thinking of you cards, holiday cards, etc, gives you the quality that you care about them and are there for them to help out.

Unique marketing – Find a unique marketing tool that will make you stand out from everyone else. Use funny holidays to show your clients that they are important to you.

Be varied – Use different media and techniques to make an impact. If you use the same thing all the time, people will get bored and not pay attention.
